The
embroidery is made up of three panels. The centre shows a face
emerging from the shadows. A person is beginning to see the
light at the end of a tunnel. The two side panels which can
close over the central one have the words "faith"
and "hope" embroidered in gold and under the central
image is the word "charity". Superimposed over it
is the same word expressed in Braille to suggest the getting
of greater understanding.
The
work involves various techniques including appliqué,
stitchery, goldwork and feltmaking is mounted onto green silk
organza. The design was realised by the Glasgow Embroiderers'
Guild in 1998.
